About five years ago, I gave each of my five grandchildren one of Veronica’s personalised blankets—something soft, cozy, and uniquely theirs.

One blanket, in particular, was adorned with bright sunflowers and carried the gentle lyrics of “Cover Me in Sunshine”—a song that held special meaning for my granddaughter and her late mother.

Just recently, after returning from a warm European holiday to the cold, rainy weather in Cape Town, I found her curled up, wrapped in that very blanket, finding comfort and warmth in its embrace.
